New Year’s Eve 2016
It was New Year’s Eve and I really wanted to go out and see in 2017 with a bang! I had seen the adverts for the Wolf of Wall Street themed NYE party at the Indigo O2 in North Greenwich arena, London, when I was looking for somewhere to go and thought it may be fun. Plus after going to the Indigo O2 previously for both gigs and club nights, I knew the venue was accessible and had facilities for wheelchair users. All of the general sale tickets had sold out, which made me think this should be a good, so I called the Indigo O2 disabled booking line to see if they had any disabled access tickets – they did and I bought the last few tickets that they had.
My boyfriend and I met up with my sister outside the Indigo O2 and went into the party. We were each given a free glass of Champagne, 3 free drink tokens, and had our picture taken with the hostesses by a photographer on our arrival. We then went into the main party area, it was still quiet but people were slowly filtering from the huge queues outside the venue. We went up to the raised platform area where we left our coats on a chair, before going down to the main dance floor where we remained for the rest of the night dancing away to Hip-Hop, RnB, Funky House and Garage.
It didn’t take long before the venue filled up, with people in the partying mood. With the theme of the party being The Wolf of Wall Street, the guys were smartly dressed, some were dressed like bank traders with shirts and bow ties, and the ladies were all dressed sexy and glam. There were 2 ping pong tables for those that wanted to play, a competition to win a 3 night break for 2 people to New York for the best trader- basically you had to post a picture on Instagram with the #XTWOLF, unfortunately I didn’t win the trip. The 3 hostesses, sometimes dancing on stage, also walked around the party, with a “party dwarf”, giving you the opportunity take pics with them. At midnight there was tick-a-tape and giant balloon drop which were then bounced around the crowd.
We had a great night parting away the last hours of 2016 and entering 2017. There was a fantastic vibe, with happy and friendly people just wanting to have fun and enjoy themselves.
