The Bluebird Restaurant

Saturday 1st July 2017

A few months ago, I thought it would be an idea to have a Holmes cousin reunion. We are all adults and lead busy lives we have a Whatsapp group chat, that we use to keep in touch, but I thought that it would be nice to actually spend time with each other.

I decided Chelsea would be a good area to meet up and go for a meal, an area that everyone would have to travel to. When doing my research for restaurant, I found The Bluebird restaurant to be the perfect place. It is fully wheelchair accessible and has a vegan menu with gluten free options, so I booked a table for 6 people for a Saturday bunch.

The Bluebird is located on the popular Kings Road, it has a stylish café and outdoor courtyard on the ground floor. The restaurant is situated upstairs on the first floor or via a lift. On first impressions, I was very pleased with the choice of venue. There is a reception desk and the hostess shows you to you pre-booked table or to the very chic bar and lounge area with large windows with the view of the courtyard below and the Kings Road, for some pre-meal drinks. They have a well put together drinks menu of cocktails, mocktails, wines and sprits etc. The restaurant was stylish it has that outdoor indoor vibe going on.

There were 5 of us at our reunion brunch, which was impressive result. We all had a wonderful afternoon, the food was delicious and the service was excellent.

The 5 cousins at brunch

Quinoa tabbouleh, dried cranberries, hazelnuts (2 courses for £25 or 3 courses for £30 from the weekend brunch menu)

Sweet potato hash, shitake, kale, asparagus (no egg)

When we left the restaurant, and said our goodbyes down stairs, my sister and I decided to look in the Bluebird gallery where there was an exhibition. It is a decent size gallery and there was a small collection of fashion from the likes of Victoria Beckham and Chloe, art from the likes of David Downton and Gladys Perint Palmer among others, as well as designer jewellery and cosmetics, all of which are available for sale. It was a nice relaxing way to spend the end of the afternoon.

If you haven’t been to The Bluebird restaurant, and enjoy dining in elegant surrounding, I recommend a visit. I certainly will be going back and possible very soon.
