Ever since I was a young child, I have been fascinated with fashion, especially London Fashion Week (LFW). I would read all the articles I could get my hands on and watch all the fashion features on TV for the LFW gossip, in recent years I have been watching the shows from the comfort of my living room on my laptop (thank goodness for live streaming). However, I have always wanted to attend, see it, live it and be part of the fashion mania that hits London twice a year.
Last Wednesday I was contacted by the lovely Laetitia – Fashion Stylist and Blogger. We have been following each other on Instagram for a few months, liking each other’s pics and have become ‘instafriends’. As we were both going to the LFW Edeline Lee AW18 fashion presentation, at BFC 180 The Strand, we decided to meet up and go together.
Fashion presentation shows are becoming more and more favourable with the designers than a catwalk show, as they are usually around 2 hours long and are on a continuous loop, with the models coming on and off stage. There is no fear of missing anything as the models/outfits will come back out again. The designers also get the opportunity to enjoy the show they have worked so hard to put on, instead of being stuck out the back.
Laetitia and I met in the morning at Somerset House where we took some photos with photographer Catherine Baker, before going on to the show.
Canadian born British designer Edeline Lee’s AW18 collection was very feminine with simple tailored silhouettes, ruffles and rich jacquard fabrics in deep colours such as reds, blues, greens and purple. I can see why Taylor Swift, Eve and Salonge Knowles have all worn clothes by the designer.
After we finished viewing the presentation, Catherine and I went on to the LFW Steven Tai AW18 fashion presentation show at the Foreign and Commonwealth office.
Going to these events you see fashion bloggers and fashionistas with their ‘streetstyle’ everywhere as London becomes one big giant play ground.
Steven Tai is a 2011 Central Saint Martin’s graduate, with loyal fans such as Oprah Winfrey and Amal Clooney. His AW18 collection is a mix of textures of velvets, jacquard and patterns giving that awkward geek-chic style.
I had an amazing day, it was great to be around people who also share a passion for fashion and be part of that fashion mania. ??
